“Free hot desk membership” program Questions & Answers

promotion

Q1: Why does FDN provide a free hot desk area for young design students and designers?
A1: The foundation of FDN was to support the design industry. We have always believed that when designers are creating, there is a special connection between them and place. We know that young design students and designers need an inspirational space to focus on design, share resources, share ideas, expand connections, and explore possibilities. Therefore, we have implemented the “Free Hot desk membership” program to strongly support young and passionate designers.

Q2: What is the background to Finest Design Nest?
A2: FDN is located at Lai Chi Kok in what was formerly the warehouse of a high-end furniture company owned by Finest Office Furniture Supplies.  Operating for 30 years, Finest Office Furniture Supplies has a duplex showroom located at Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui, next to Rosary Church, close to the intersection with The Hong Kong Polytechnic. You will probably be very familiar with us! About four years ago its founder transformed the Lai Chi Kok warehouse into FDN, based on his years of furniture and interior design experience, and growing it into what it is today – a successful co-working environment for creatives and designers.

Q3: What is the layout and offering of the Finest Design Nest space?
A3: Our net floor area is over 12,000 square feet. Our common area is over 90% of this, meaning that in our wider space, your access and thoughts will never be restricted! The interior design features a combination of contemporary and simple European furniture, specifically chosen to suit each zone, whether it be a quiet space to think, or an active space to connect, create, study, or work. You will find it all at FDN!

Q5: Are the Finest Design Nest premises easy to find?
A5: FDN is handily located, just a 5-minute walk from Lai Chi Kok MRT Station B1 exit, so you don’t have to worry about getting out of breath! However, with more than 10,000 square feet of space on offer, prepare yourself for a lot of walking at FDN!

Q6: Who could you possibly meet at Finest Design Nest?
A6: At FDN, you would have the opportunity to meet designers or architects from different backgrounds – academic seniors, business leaders, trainers, or even artists conducting interviews. If you come to FDN, not only could you meet your idols, but you could also be ‘discovered’ or possibly get the chance to collaborate!

Q7: Are there any design reference books at Finest Design Nest?
A7: We have more than 2,000 books in our resource library, including 500 design and architecture books from SCAD. There is also a precious collection of books provided by famous designers. We have many material and sample books that interior designers love. Our resource library could definitely be your inspiration’s supply station!

Q8: What does a user of Finest Design Nest need to pay special attention to?
A8: We clearly know that designers need a quiet environment to create, so there is a limit to the number of people who can use the FDN common area at once. In some areas you will have outside access – take a breather to enjoy the natural surroundings and accompanying birdsong! Most importantly, hopefully you will learn to love everything FDN has to offer!
